Previously, we talked about learning to recognize the leverage already around you and turning everyday resources into opportunities. Today, we’re taking that concept further with Naval Ravikant’s four types of leverage for building wealth.
1. Capital
Money working for you
Capital means using money to generate more money through investments, businesses, and income-producing assets.
Yuna’s Take: Learn to use other people’s money wisely. Understand the difference between good debt and bad debt. Good debt can help you acquire assets that generate enough income to cover their costs and build wealth. Bad debt takes money out of your pocket without creating meaningful value. Borrow strategically, understand your risks, and make sure the numbers work.
2. Labor
People working together
Labor leverage means multiplying what you can accomplish through other people’s time, skills, and expertise.
Yuna’s Take: Always aim for a win-win-win. You win because your business grows, your team wins because they’re fairly compensated and valued, and your customers win because they receive excellent service. The best businesses create opportunities where everyone benefits. Build systems that allow your business to grow without depending entirely on you.
3. Code
Technology working for you
Code allows you to build software, digital tools, and automated systems that can serve thousands of people without requiring thousands of hours of your time.
Yuna’s Take: Find a problem worth solving and build a solution that can be used repeatedly. You don’t necessarily need to know how to code anymore to get started. With today’s technology and AI tools, you can create solutions, automate processes, and turn ideas into digital assets. Build it once, improve it continuously, and let technology multiply your efforts.
4. Media
Knowledge working for you
Media allows you to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge through books, videos, educational content, and other intellectual property.
Yuna’s Take: Ask yourself: What do you know? What are you passionate about? What have you experienced that could help someone else? Your knowledge could solve a problem, teach a skill, or change someone’s perspective. In today’s digital world, one valuable idea can reach people across the globe. Focus on leaving people better than you found them. The more genuine value you create, the more opportunities you give yourself to be rewarded for it.
Now, imagine combining all four.
Use capital to fund an opportunity. Build a team to operate it. Use code to automate and scale it. Leverage media to reach more people and attract customers.
Suddenly, you’re not just creating another job for yourself. You’re building an ecosystem of assets, people, technology, and intellectual property that can work together. That’s the power of leverage.
The ultimate goal is to create sustainable income and value without your time being required for every dollar earned.
So here’s my question: which type of leverage are you using today, and which one could take you to the next level?
