Learn to See the Levers Around You

By Yuna Park

Leverage is using the resources you already have to create greater results without constantly increasing your own workload. Learn to recognize the levers in your life, pull them, and plan your exit from the start.

One of the most valuable skills you can develop is learning how to recognize leverage.

Leverage is about using the resources you already have to create greater results without constantly increasing your own workload.

Sometimes, the very circumstances you think are holding you back are actually opportunities waiting to be recognized.

An example

Imagine you’re a mom living in an apartment complex. You’re home most of the day, and you have a washing machine.

You might feel stuck. Limited resources, limited income, limited options.

But I see a lever waiting to be pulled.

You have a washing machine. You have availability. And you’re surrounded by people who might happily pay someone to handle their laundry.

So you offer that service.

You run your numbers, account for utilities, supplies, and your time, make sure it’s permitted, and price it to make a profit.

You’ve just turned something you already had into an income opportunity.

Plan your exit from the beginning

But here’s where it gets interesting. You start planning your EXIT strategy from the beginning.

Because the goal isn’t to create another job for yourself. The goal is to build something that can eventually operate without you.

You establish your pricing, scheduling, customer relationships, and processes. Then you introduce labor leverage.

You hire someone to handle the laundry while you manage the business. Eventually, you build systems that allow someone else to manage the scheduling and operations, too.

Now you’re transitioning from being the person doing the work to owning a business that can generate income without your constant involvement.

The win-win-win principle

And here’s my favorite part.

Your customer wins because they’re receiving a service they value.

Your worker wins because you’ve created a fairly compensated opportunity.

You win because you’ve built an income-producing system.

Nobody needs to be taken advantage of. Everyone contributes value, and everyone benefits. That’s how you build loyalty, relationships, and sustainable businesses.

Look through a different lens

Now, please understand. I’m NOT telling you to start a laundry business. I’m teaching you to look at your life through a different lens.

Your skills, your belongings, your environment, your relationships, even your limitations. There are levers all around you.

Learn to recognize them. Learn to pull them. Build systems around them.

And most importantly, plan your exit strategy so that eventually, the money can continue flowing even when you’re no longer personally involved in the day-to-day operations.

Building wealth isn’t just about making more money. It’s about building assets that can earn for you and give you your time back.
